If you are going to buy pasta, it is best to choose pasta that is composed of sugars and proteins, and that paste with eggs is the most suitable for children.


Methods of preserving pasta

All types of pasta have a specific preservation method according to the following:

Dry pasta: It can be kept for 3 years in a dry place.

Pasta with eggs: It can be preserved between 10-20 months.

Pasta: Keep in the fridge for no more than a week.


Health benefits of pasta

  1. Spaghetti: It is the most famous item in the Arab world, especially in Egypt, and it consists of long and thin fingers. Lasagna: Its origins go back to the Italian cuisine, and it can be served as a main meal along with some types of appetizers.
  2. Cannelloni: It has a cylindrical shape and is stuffed with many different fillings such as minced meat and vegetables.
  3. Butterflies: it is pasta in the form of colored butterflies, which is preferred by the majority of people, and it can be eaten without additives after boiling it along with some types of appetizers, or it can be eaten cooked with spinach or beets.
  4. The shell: It can be prepared with tuna, cheese, or red sauce, and it is considered a light side dish that can be served for dinner.
  5. Ravioli pasta: it is square in shape, it is filled with many different fillings and served with white or red sauce, and it can be served as a main or side dish.
  6. Spiral or cut pasta: can be served with yellow cheese, tuna, or meat; It is a great and light meal that kids love.

INGREDIENTS

1 pound (500g) lean ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon garlic powder

pinch to ½ teaspoon cayenne powder

salt and pepper to taste

1½ cups (355ml) milk

1½ cups (355ml) beef broth

2 cups (260g) elbow macaroni, uncooked

1 (8oz) (227g) can tomato sauce

2 cups (225g) shredded cheddar cheese


INSTRUCTIONS

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the ground beef, onion, paprika, parsley, garlic powder, cayenne powder, salt and pepper. If using a ground beef with a higher fat content add in the seasonings after draining the grease.

Stir in the milk, broth, macaroni and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until pasta is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
